Seriously, can we?!

In the many years I have called myself a “metal fan” I have seen everything. I have witnessed a band dressed as pirates singing about treasure and mead. Once I watched a band of masked men performing a ritual to summon demons live on stage. Hell, I once saw a band dressed as Ned Flanders from The Simpsons called OKILLY DOKILLY. However, no band has made a bigger impression in the last 8 years like BABYMETAL has.

What the heck is a BABYMETAL you might ask? Well, they are a band from Japan, comprised of 3 cute idol singers backed by demonic figures playing pop infused metal jams. Okay I can feel your confused expressions, just give me a bit to elaborate. The idol world in Japan is a very corporate and by the number process with rigorous planning. The 3 Idols were handpicked to form a subunit from an already established idol group called Sakura Gakuin. None of the three members was familiar with metal music before the inception of the band, but that didn’t stop them from learning it. As the years went by they were dropping tracks like "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!”and “Gimme Chocolate!!” With their popularity rising, a pretty obvious split in opinions developed in the metal world about BABYMETAL. Some metal fans accepted this addition to the genre, calling it a fun concept that has a wide appeal. While others said that this band was stain to the genre and should not be called metal.

My thoughts? Dude, this band is awesome!

The fact these girls started in BABYMETAL when they were ages 10-12 years old blow my mind. I could barely sing a cover of Crazy Train in front of people when I was 16 years old, while these girls are performing in large festivals & arenas. Also  if metal icons such as Corey Taylor (Slipknot), Jeff Walker (CARCASS), Chino Moreno (Deftones), Kerry King & Gary Holt (Slayer), and Rob Halford (Judas Priest) like BABYMETAL… Then no one should have a problem. If you are still reluctant about BABYMETAL, check out this live concert from Sonisphere in 2014. It is something to behold and they might just become your new favorite band.

Now want to go more into detail about Japanese Idol… wait where are you going?
