Who can back up the trash talk?
I’ll admit it – I have mixed feelings about the reboot of American Idol, which starts Sunday. I stopped watching several seasons before Fox canceled it because I didn’t think they were still finding talent like Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson. But when they brought Luke Bryan on as a judge, I thought, “well, maybe I can give it a chance.”
And then they were all, “hey, we’re gonna put this on at the same time as The Voice.” Both shows air two nights a week, and for both shows, one of those nights is Monday. Ummm. No. While my DVR can handle both at the same time, my interest level probably can’t.
But what has been fun is the trash talk between The Voice’s Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan. Like earlier this week, when Luke was making the rounds of TV shows to promote Idol, and he stopped by Late Night With Seth Meyers and talked about Blake’s “sexiest man alive” win.

But if history has shown us anything, it’s that Blake talks better smack, and the last I checked, The Voice was better than Idol. I’ll be happy to be proved wrong, and I’ll tune in Sunday to see what’s up with the reboot.
By the way, after Luke’s interview, he played a song, which he hasn’t done at every TV stop. Check out “Hooked On It” here.
