Swedish EDM act NOTD (it’s pronounced “noted”) and up and coming artist Bea Miller are hoping they’ve released the song of the summer, and sat down on TRL recently to talk about how the track came about. They also took on the real life circumstance that led Bea to write the song.

TRL wasn’t the only stop for Bea in NYC this week – she also performed at youth pride.

Do you think Bea Miller and NOTD can make it to the top of the charts this summer? Listen, heart and share the song on Slacker Radio to help boost it onto the Slacker Top 40!

You'll get the backstories on some of your favorite songs while they hit up Penny Lane, the hair salon where Paul and John Lennon used to hang out and Paul's childhood home.

Ps - Owning Paul McCartney's childhood home must be a blessing and a curse...

"HOLD ON PAUL, GIVE ME ONE MINUTE." *shoves dirty glasses in the fridge, smells armpits, sprays perfume, fixes frazzled hair*

According to Consequence Of Sound, McCartney will release his first studio album in five years on September 7th. Egypt Station, is named after one of his own paintings.

ACM’s charity arm, Lifting Lives, has a music camp every year, and it’s probably the coolest camp you could ever dream of going to. This year, 30 campers ranging from 16 to 50 years old, all with a developmental disability called Williams Syndrome, got to visit Nashville for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. During the campers week-long stay, they received music education and performance experience, all while the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center was able to study this unique disability.

The program started with a writing session, where campers wrote a song called “One Voice” with Kip Moore and hit songwriters Ross Copperman (“Drunk On Your Love,” “If I Told You,” “American Country Love Song,”) and Jon Nite (“We Were Us,” “Tip It On Back,” “Whatever She’s Got”). They took that to the studio, where Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott helped them record it and answered their questions about the music business. And, as if that wasn’t cool enough, they took their new song to the Grand Ole Opry, where they got to perform it with Craig Morgan.

Other activities included karaoke with Brandon Lay, visiting Seacrest Studios with Cassadee Pope, and meeting and/or greeting with Danielle Bradbery.  In my job, I get to do a lot of cool stuff, and even I’m envious of the week they had!

So Lamb of God stopped by San Diego in May and — of course — I wasn’t going miss to the show. This being my 3rd LoG show, I was happy to know what I was in for: great music, a great audience, and some heavy duty moshing.
Now, I managed to set myself up with a good spot on the floor and got hyped as the show started. As the night continued, the circle pits formed behind me, and I received the customary small, but harmless pushback. Like I stated, I’m a metal dude; I expect a little pushback. However, things suddenly cranked to 11 a little earlier than expect...

As “Inherit the Earth" began, I felt a punch to the back of my head. A punch! I felt like Robert Downey Jr. in the Sherlock Holmes films, analyzing the situation and properly thinking of a way to respond. After a second of thought, I turned around to see a fellow who looked like Seth Rogen, had he gone bald at 20 years old, and I immediately yelled "Did you f*ckin punch me?"

Smooth and relaxed, I know. I’m good like that.

True to form, this troubled, tipsy bro responded back with equal etiquette: “yeah, you're in the f*ckin way!"

Guys, look, I can't control my height. But for the record, if you’re ever behind me at a show and can’t see, you can, like, ask me to move or something. Sadly for this nerd, there was no ask, only some pre-mature punchery and distraction from an epic LoG show.
As a proper gentleman, I realized that this situation needed to be de-escalated, so I politely reared back and gave him just enough of a push to get sucked up by the nearest moshpit. Like Boba Fett to the Sarlacc Pit or when King Leonidas kicked that one guy, I banished the knockoff Seth Rogen to the whim of the pit and proceeded to enjoy the rest of the show.

Let us all learn a lesson from Mr. Punch Dudes In The Head Guy: don’t punch dudes in the back of the head, especially when your back is facing a Lamb of God moshpit.

JUST IMAGINE having so much pull that you’re able to book Paris' Louvre as the set of your video shoot. I have so many questions. What were their insurance costs on being that close to priceless works of art? How many security guards do they have standing around just outside the frame? And do Beyonce and Jay-Z have some kind of dirt on whoever’s in charge of one of the most famous museums in the world to get this kind of favor?

The Carters are making their joint musical debut – and true to their brand, the release was a complete surprise. They dropped the 9 song EP Everything Is Love on Saturday and blew the world away.

I mean, sure, Lambos & blinged out chains are nice, but Rap’s First Couple are raising the bar on what luxury means. Check out the video and let us know what you think!

YAAAAS. The opening scene of The Lost Boys is etched into the brain of every 80s movie lover and it's rather endearing that Marilyn Manson covered the Gerald McMann soundtrack classic.

First, get to know the backstory on the original via Buzzfeed.

Gerald McMann - who now travels under the moniker of G Tom Mac - revealed that he managed to compose the theme from The Lost Boys, without even enjoying the benefit of screening the movie first, although they did at least send him a copy of the screenplay. "As it turned out, I got inspired by reading the script and the events in my own life and wrote the song," said Mac. "The song was brewing in my head with the choir as a chorus backing me. That all seemed to come within half an hour. Mike Maineri had this hypnotic beat, we refined it together, and my melody and chords melted right into it. Then I wrote the lyrics within an hour or two, recorded the demo, sent it to Joel [Schumacher], two days later got a call from him, ecstatic by the song and saying, "You nailed my theme song to The Lost Boys! I can't believe you wrote this without seeing a frame of film!'

As for Manson's cover, Consequence of Sound says it is supposedly for the 2019 X-Men spinoff, The New Mutants.

My only two critiques:
1. I'd rather a Lost Boys remake than another X-Men installment.
2. Marilyn definitely should have gotten sexy oil-slicked sax cameo icon, Tim Cabello, to perform with him in some capacity. He dropped the ball there.

Craig Campbell has a new 7-song EP out called See You Try, and a song by the same name. So I got to talk to him about it on Slacker Radio’s Nashville Now (and a little on Country Hits), and the subject of the Country 500 came up. We watched his performance here on LiveXLive, and I saw an interview (elsewhere) from the show where a guy asked him to tell him something nobody knew about him.

Craig said, “I can do something only 1% of the world population can do: I can lick my elbow.” And the guy interviewing him said, “Ok,” and moved on to the next unrelated question.

WAIT A MINUTE. He didn’t ask to see proof? He didn’t ask how he figured out he could do that, or how that skill comes in handy? Nothing?!

I couldn’t let that stand. I HAD to see it for myself. And if that random radio guy doing the interview wasn’t going to ask, I definitely was. And Craig said yes. You’re welcome, random radio dude.

With E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) happening, my whole twitter feed has been bombarded with an assault of video game related news these last few days. From the praises of fans to the surprises of trailers dropping, this is truly a momentous occasion for all gamers. I myself couldn’t even escape the hype train of E3, so why don’t I why don’t I do something a little different. Don’t worry if you think I was going to miss out on the metal, after all I did say “Remembering, The Best Metal Video Game” in the title after all.

The game I’m talking about was probably the riskiest project to take on. A world inspired from everything metal, from the designs to the characters. Iconic metal figures were brought in to lend their voices for roles based on them. This game also might have the best soundtrack in any video game in history that became my playlist for 2 years. Finally, last but not least, the game’s lead was… Jack Black!

If you have not figured it out yet, I’m talking about  “Brütal Legend!”

Created by fellow metalhead Tim Schafer of Double Fine Productions, you play as Eddie Riggs (voiced by Jack Black), who is "the world's best roadie" for "the world's worst 'heavy metal' band", Kabbage Boy. During a gig for Kabbage Boy, Eddie is crushed by falling scenery while trying to save a member of the band, and awakens in a world that resembles a twisted collage of metal records. With little breathing time, the game begins. Guitar solos that casts spells. Chopping fiendish creatures with a literal axe. Exploring locations like Razor Fields, Bladehenge, and Sea of Black Tears while Iced Earth is playing in the background. It was like witnessing a Frank Frazetta art piece in motion. This game… was amazing.

Can’t forget the awesome well thought characters that all fit a role in the “Metal Genre Tree.” Also the cameos from legends like, Rob Halford, Lemmy Kilmister, Lita Ford, Tim Curry, and Ozzy Osbourne! There was nothing more I would wanted from a game.

With such a strong concept and a team that poured so much effort into it, you think there would be a sequel for it right? I know I do!

After it was released in 2009, Double Fine believed they were given the go-ahead to develop a sequel to Brütal Legend, and had invested a great deal of development time towards this, but were later told by EA that it was cancelled.

Did you hear a break in the distance? That was my heart 8 years ago.

HOWEVER as of 2013, Schafer is still interested in a sequel to Brütal Legend, but would require appropriate funding and resources to make it happen as an independent developer. To follow that up, “Brutal Legend will eventually get a sequel” Tim Schafer of developer Double Fine said June 13 during an appearance at E3 2017. That was last year! There is hope for the legend to continue, and if you haven’t already played it… play “Brutal Legend!”

Now that I got that off my chest… time to check out the other releases today.

Did you catch Kehlani when she performed her collab with Kyle on Kimmel last week? If you’ve seen the video for that track, “Playinwitme,” you know it features both artists competing for the attention of the same girl. She’s also got a new song with Hayley Kiyoko, another young and out artist, called “What I Need”.

Kehlani has become known as a superstar feature in the pop world, working with everyone from Calvin Harris to Charlie Puth, so she’s been in the public eye a lot, and has been taking the opportunity to speak up about being bisexual and gender fluid in the industry. She even has a tattoo of the word “fluid” on her chest. She recently told Paper Magazine

I get a lot of, “'Why do you get your nails done? Why some days are you more masculine than you are feminine?' People either expect me to be a quote-unquote dyke or femme, and it’s weird to me. Especially when queer people do it to each other, because I think when you truly understand the humanness of queerness, there are no rules to this shit."

She also spoke in a conversation with The Fader about how new it is, even for her her, to be able to write songs that truly represent her point of view.

I've been making music about women my whole career, but I never felt the need to write "she," necessarily. It wasn't in the forefront of my mind. But now I've seen how people reacted to my song "Honey," or when I've used the correct pronouns and put women in my music videos. Just seeing how much people felt like they needed that representation or how much it inspired them definitely encouraged me to step into this new phase of making music. I'm more aware that this isn't just my truth: it's something I can empower youth with, rather than just serve myself. It's definitely a new process that I'm excited to explore.
