OK, now that we've got that out of the way! Kelly Clarkson's got a big month ahead of her - she's hosting the Billboard Music Awards on May 20th - her first time hosting a major awards show. Of course, we all know she's full of personality from her coaching gig on the latest season of The Voice, and I suspect she might be one of the most fun hosts the show has ever had.
Kelly's gearing up for the event, telling us “To prepare for hosting the Billboard Music Awards, I already have 20 costume changes planned. I will be flying in like my girl P!nk and calling Amy Schumer and Sarah Silverman for jokes. Well, or I’m just gonna show up and celebrate my favorite artists and get to know a few more. Yeah, maybe I’ll go with that plan.”
But Ellen seemed to feel she needed even more prep, and set her up with her very own daytime talkshow! Honestly... I would watch that.
Might be good that they got a chance to test that "Kelly's Karaoke" bit. I have some notes about cutting it down if they want to use it on the BBMAs.
Watch the Billboard Music Awards - with host, Kelly Clarkson! - 8pm on May 20th live from Vegas!

You mean this Queen biopic is really going to happen?!! YES. Maybe. Fingers crossed.

If the trailer for Bohemian Rhapsody and the behind the scenes pics unveiled at CinemaCon are any indication, the embattled Queen biopic -- 10yrs in the making! -- is going to pull through. The big question is: will it do the iconic band justice?
Production has been no pleasure cruise. Sacha Baron Cohen backed out of the project in 2013. Bryan Singer was booted as director last year after “not showing up” however do some digging and you’ll find far worse accusations on that guy. Enter Rami Malek, whose performance and gratitude might be the movie’s saving grace. According to Indiewire, Rami told the audience,  “As an actor, you look at the humanity of someone, the struggles that he overcame throughout his life. Throughout the course of the film, you’ll learn so much about him that gives the way he sings the music and plays that music — it fills it with pain and beauty.” http://www.indiewire.com/2018/04/bohemian-rhapsody-rami-malek-cinemacon-1201957601/

Meanwhile, Queen guitarist Brian May was so moved he wrote to Rami and said “if Freddie were here today, he could not be more proud of what we were able to achieve.”

Yes, Rami may have an incredibly big bulge to fill, but he just might pull it off. Speaking of, let’s go back and watch Mr. Fahrenheit in action and look out for Bohemian Rhapsody in theaters on Nov. 2nd.

Frankie J sat with me to talk about his classic "Suga, Suga," starting his own record label, as well as his new music “Dame De Lo Tuyo,” which features his first signed artist, Raymor. Check it out!

It's rare to see any metal in pop culture and — let’s be honest — it's not hard to see why. The raw aggressive energy behind it doesn't always hit the average person unrefined ears as smoothly as we metalheads. But, I think there may finally, at long last be a solution. Please allow me to introduce you to Aggretsuko!

Who is Aggretsuko? Well I'm glad you asked!

Aggretsuko, or Aggressive Retsuko, is a Japanese anime franchise based on the eponymous character created by "Yeti" for the mascot company Sanrio (the same guys who created the slightly less metal Hello Kitty).

Here is how Sanrio describes the Aggretsuko:

“She is a cute Red Panda, working as an office associate in the accounting department of a highly respected trading company. She works in one of the biggest metropolitan areas of Tokyo. It's always been a dream of hers to work in this field, especially in this part of the city. But in reality, her bosses are unsympathetic and give her harsh deadlines.

She ultimately has become a pushover within the company. When she gets pushed to the limit, she goes out after work and takes out her frustration and stress with heavy metal Karaoke sessions!”

The strange combination of relatability, comedy, & death metal has already won over much of the internet and has even spawned a Netflix series that has dropped this April

So. If you are the type who hates your job, can't stand your annoying co-workers, and has either embraced or repressed the need to scream it all out... don't worry, Aggretsuko is there to help you out. And by extension, further infect the unassuming masses with the most awesome disease of all: heavy metal fever.
Cardi B is turning into one of my favorite celebrities to see interviewed – mostly due to how uncomfortable she manages to make the interviewer with her one word – or sometimes just one noise – responses. She sat down with Ellen last week to talk about how she got her name, why she doesn’t drive, and her nerves before performing on SNL.
When Cardi does go into detail, she doesn’t hold back. She opened up about her pregnancy, what it was like to perform at Coachella 6 months along, and indicated that dancing is going to help her through labor when the time comes.  She also made it clear that if you watch carefully, there should be no confusion about how, exactly, she got knocked up.
Wow, that’s… Wow. Think her mom was watching?
Baby B is expected early in July, and there’s no sign of Cardi slowing down before then!

The same band who treats you to the inner workings of a psychedelic kaleidoscope at each and every live show, has teamed up with Dogfish Head Ale for a signature “Dragons And Yum Yums” brew https://www.dogfish.com/brewery/beer/dragons-yumyums#undefined-dialog. Just in time for Record Store Day 2018.

According to Pitchfork, Doghead gave Lips frontman, Wayne Coyne, a list of potential ingredients and a 7inch was born.

“The Story of Yum Yum and Dragon” and “Pouring Beer in Your Ear,” will be released for Record Store Day on April 21 as a limited-edition seven-inch vinyl single. Coyne teased snippets of the dreamy-sounding A-side, which follows the adventures of characters inspired by the beer’s ingredients, in a couple of Instagram posts last November. He describes “Pouring,” a composition written with Lips multi-instrumentalist Steven Drozd, as “a great little song, kind of a slightly pub-ish thing.”
BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE! Wayne somehow convinced Dogfish to make 100 translucent copies of the record that are actually filled with the beer! Then again when you’ve sold an EP inside a life-sized gummy skull and a USB mix in an anatomically accurate heart made out of dark chocolate, it’s probably easier to sway decision-makers.

With recent news that RAMMSTEIN is officially back in the studio for the next album, I couldn’t help but reminisce about the first time I heard the band.

The time was 2001, and I was enjoying my summer break the only way I knew how, by playing Street Fighter Alpha 3 the whole time. My dad, on the other hand, had his sites set on some father-son bonding and decided to peel me away from my paradise of pixels and combos.
Now, I don’t know how you bonded with your respective old man, but for me it was usually car rides. Long, boring car rides. As an adult, I now know it was probably tough for my dad to ‘get' me a lot of the time. We’re talking about a German native who moved his life to the states, and let’s just say his upbringing involved neither Dragon Punches nor Hurricane Kicks. But there was one safety net that connected us: music.

Most of my music taste came from my parents and my dad was the first person to introduce me to metal. Dio, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Motörhead… the list goes on. And around the time of said car rides, my taste in metal was fairly grounded to what was big in the states, so mostly what was played on the radio and whatever I could find in Metal Edge Magazine.

With all the background, let me get back to the point: car rides and German metal.

So my dad is taking me on one of his infamous cruises down the coast, talking me about, like, stuff and whatever. At some point, he could tell that our precious bro time wasn’t creating the desired result and that music was likely his only choice to get things back on track.

Back against the wall, my old man throws out: “Hey, so there is this band I like a lot from Deutschland.”

“Cool…” I said whilst, staring out the window.

“I think you will really like them as well” he proclaimed with a cocky attitude.

“Sure, put em on but-”

Before I could finish, the mouth of the beast opened and Till Lindemann voice echoed out with:

“Du
Du hast
Du hast mich!”

That was the most metal way of saying “you have me” I have ever heard in my life at that moment. Credit to my dad, I loved that goddamn band. We spent that whole car ride listening to Sehnsucht, bonding over some of the most awesome and most inappropriate music ever… and creating a car ride that I wouldn’t change for anything.
